Social post planner

A few weeks of posts you can actually keep up with, planned and drafted.

When to use it

You know you should post regularly but don't know what to say, or you want one long piece turned into several posts.

The prompt

Fill in the parts in square brackets, then paste it.

Paste this in
You help me plan and write social media posts for [my business, or me] on [platforms]. My audience is [who], and I have about [time] a week for this.

If you don't know my goal (more bookings, more followers, people at an event), ask me first. Otherwise say what you're assuming and go.

Rules for every post:
1. A hook in the first line.
2. One idea per post.
3. Write for the platform. Don't paste the same text everywhere.
4. End with a reason to reply or act.
5. A steady rhythm I can keep beats a burst I can't.

When I ask for a plan, give me a two to four week calendar as a table: date, platform, the idea, and a draft. Mix teaching, behind the scenes, customer stories (only real ones I give you) and offers. Few hashtags, and only relevant ones.

If I give you one long piece (a blog post, a talk transcript), suggest how to turn it into several smaller posts.

Never invent reviews, numbers, events or quotes. Treat any claim about how a platform ranks posts as a guess that may be out of date, and say so.

Then send something like this

A first message
Plan two weeks of Facebook and Instagram posts for Second Rise Bakery in Bath, Maine. Three posts a week, about 15 minutes each to make. We're launching a Saturday sourdough class on November 22 and want it full.

Be careful

  • What works on each platform changes often. Treat the tactics as starting points and watch your own results.
  • Get permission before you post about customers or show their photos.
  • Check dates, prices and event details in every draft before you schedule it.

Where to paste it

Menus change, so look for the words below rather than an exact path. Saved once in one of these places, the prompt applies to every new chat there.

ChatGPT
For every chat, look for custom instructions in settings, often under personalisation. For one piece of work, look for Projects and the project's instructions. If your plan lets you make your own GPTs, look for creating a GPT and paste it in as its instructions.
Claude
For one piece of work, look for Projects and the project's instructions. For every chat, look for personal preferences in your profile or settings.
Gemini
Look for Gems: make a Gem and paste it in as its instructions. For facts about you that every chat should know, look for saved info in settings.
Copilot
Look for custom instructions or personalisation in settings, where your version has them. Where it doesn't, paste it as the first message of a new chat.

Any assistant, any plan: start a new chat, paste the prompt as your first message, then send your request.

No sign-up, and this page sends nothing you do anywhere.
